I still have to attend those. Just can't avoid them yet, for my parent's and husband's sake.
Such a boring experience! I tell you, this slow fading stuff is the pits!

well, actually, i should go and leave apostate literature on all the car windows.
all those wasted weekends.. you know, i never completely understood why they have to have 2 assemblies every year and then the big convention.
i always dreaded each one.

hello everyone....i'm new here.. i was raised as a jw until i turned 19 when i decided to stop attending the meetings.
i just rathered not think about it for a few years.
now, i'm married and my husband and i are searching.
Once a JW, specially if you were born into it, you can check out any time you'd like but you can never leave.
This website confirms it. We just can't leave.

my "jw" family came down for the "thanksgiving" holiday.
my mom & sister - my sisters family - my full time pioneer niece (17 years old).
we were sitting around playing cards and my niece was writing letters inbetween deals.
And you know what else some of them will do? Well, they'll go on the Internet and answer a few threads here and there and put down all the time they were logged on as field service hours. How's that for utter silliness?!

i am trying to learn as much as i can for my wife's sake.
she has started to attend a kingdom hall.
it's a spanish one.
Family_man,
The Spanish congregation is worse that the English one! More controlling, getting more into your personal business, showing up unannounced and uninvited to your home, and expecting to be entertained often too, as a sign of hospitality so they say.
Oh brother, are you ever in for a rollercoaster ride!

is it my imagination, or do jehovah witnesses have an "everyone is against me" attitude??
our daughter-in-law (who is a jw) seems to have this mind-set.
whether its getting the car repaired, going to the doctor, work done on the house, etc., they all have "ripped her off".
Oh yes, the JW mindset is "it's us Jehovah's approved people against the whole world". It's the doctrine that gets taught meeting after meeting; after years of this much pounding 5 times per week, every JW sincerely believes it in his/her heart.
DY
just curious to see, how some of you who have been out recently, or out for a very long time, have gone on with your outlook on life.
do you still believe in the bible?
do you still cling to some of the 'old' teachings?
Puternut,
My outlook in life is very positive.
When I leave for good (it's so exhausting leading a double life, but that's a whole other subject), I plan on continuing to be a person with morals, unlike so many that leave just to 'throw out the baby out with the bath water', so to speak, and in doing so they become self-fulfillers of the WTBT prophecy that 'everyone that leaves Jehovah has nothing but misery in life'.
I already have really nice friends at work, and through my non-JW relatives. I plan on getting involved in community activities that help individuals directly and make a difference.
My best years are still yet to come.

i got hold of a memo from a jew who watched this movie :
sent: sunday, january 18, 2004 8:56 pm
subject: fw: paul harvey's comments on mel gibson's movie, "the passion of thechrist" .
The truth stings like a bee, don't it?!!!
Still don't think I'll see this movie, though. It can't be any different than what I've read and studied so many times since being a JW. What, the 'Greatest Man' book has been studied like 3 times already, and it depicts the entire life of Jesus Christ.
I'll skip it, thanks!!!

Not that any candidate ever will solve any of the important issues, but I do sincerely hope Bush wins. At least he's presidential looking, plus I also like the Republican stance in most things.
That other Kerry guy reminds me of Marmaduke; and his wife, Gosh!!!, have you at all listened to the idiocy and nonsense that comes out of the woman's mouth?!!!
She'd very possibly be the dumbest/nuttiest First Lady ever, if the Kerry candidate was to win. Oh, please, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've actually been hit by a car on friday the 13th (i believe).
of course i really didn't know what day it was cuz i was knocked da feck out, but hey.... also today i thought my tickets were sold out, but ticketmaster was just doing an update to its site, yay!
uhm, about the only other thing that has happened to me was, um, i don't remember really...
Someone who believes something bad will inevitably happen to him/her on Friday 13th, then it will definitely happen!
In this case, many people become self fulfilling prophets.

we all know that the wts continous to spew nonsense about "satan and his hordes" and how they are always on the prowl trying to attack loyal dubs and stear them away from the troof.
my parents are hard core dub zealots still very much in the org.my mom will not hesitate to toss an inanimate object in the garbage if she suspects that it is "possesed".
so when you left, how long did it take you to shake the fear of them big bad deeeemunz?
I believe in their existance and shall continue to fear them 'til the day I die.
